10 February 2017 - The Director-General of the International Organization for Migration William Lacy Swing, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya Martin Kobler met today in Geneva to underscore the need for a comprehensive approach to address the situation of migrants and refugees in Libya as well as to assist the hundreds of thousands of Libyans displaced and impacted by the crisis.

Libya - On Friday and Saturday (3 - 4 February), four rescue-at-sea operations were conducted, resulting in the rescue of 592 migrants off western Libya.

January 31st 2017, Tripoli, Libya - The Ministry of Planning of the Government of National Accord handed over two ambulances, two generators and 60 computers to the municipality in Kikla, part of a relief package to improve basic services there. Kikla, a small city in western part of Libya, numbers about 10,000 people.

Tunis, Tunisia, 1 February 2017 - UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is conducting a two-week course on human rights and refugee law for the Libyan Coastguard and Navy. The training is being held on an Italian ship crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
