Midwives: health heroes for women, adolescent girls and newborns

On this day, the United Nations Population Fund, Libya office, salutes the contribution of the Libyan midwives and the caring mothers who have worked to save the lives of women, girls and newborn babies, under very difficult circumstances, in hard-to-reach communities and in humanitarian emergencies.

Libya's Humanitarian Coordinator Expresses Deep Regret over Children Death in Explosion in Benghazi
03 May 2016 - Humanitarian Coordinator and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Ali Al-Za’tari expresses deep regret about the death of three children and the injury of another on Monday in Benghazi.  The four children are reported to be from the Biju family and to have been victims of an explosive device in al-Hawari area in the city of Benghazi.

This is day, is a very important day for Libya, a country of journalists and bloggers who played a key role during the 2011 revolution and continue to do so. On this occasion, the United Nations applauds the courage and the commitment of Libya’s media workers and social media bloggers who work under extremely difficult circumstances.
