Statement by Ghassan Khalil, UNICEF Special Representative on the killing of children in Libya
TUNIS, 23 September 2016 - “According to reports, at least nine civilians including women and children were killed and 20 others were wounded in Sokna, an oasis town in central Libya, on Tuesday.

“The attack hit a public park where children and families were enjoying themselves. This attack shows that even the simple act of playing has become dangerous for the children of Libya.

“UNICEF calls on all parties to the conflict in Libya to protect children from all forms of violence and keep them out of harm’s way.
