UNSMIL Deplores Assassination of ICRC Delegate, Calls on Authorities to Prosecute Culprits

Tripoli, 04 June 2014 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) deplores the assassination of one of the International Committee of the Red Cross’ Delegates today, Wednesday 4 June 2014.

This shocking crime targets the work of an international organization known for its integrity and commitment to international humanitarian law, alongside its efforts in the service of Libya and the dignity and safety of its citizens.

The Libyan authorities, and all political, revolutionary and social actors, are called upon to condemn this heinous act, which is as damaging to Libya as to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Consequently, it is incumbent on the authorities to reveal the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
