"Positive spirit" in Libyan Dialogue in Geneva

Participants in the UN-facilitated political dialogue in Geneva discussed on Monday 26 January 2015 issues on the agenda, including a future unity government, confidence building measures and a venue for future dialogue rounds.

"I am confident that Libyans participating and those who hopefully will join the talks have a very clear determination to reach an agreement, to pacify the country and to overcome the crisis," Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Bernardino Leon, said after two sessions of discussions on Monday.

He said discussions will continue on Tuesday.

Leon, head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), added: "There is a very constructive spirit. There are very good ideas on the table ... Everything is positive."The meeting on Monday hosted by UNSMIL at the United Nations Office at Geneva is a followup to the dialogue held in Geneva on 14-15 January 2015.

On Wednesday, another meeting will bring together municipal and local council representatives from cities and towns across Libya.
