20 February 2014 – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) strongly deplores the terrorist bombings in the City of Al-Qubbah in eastern Libya, causing many casualties.

The bombings which targeted a number of locations in Al-Qubbah, hometown of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh Kuweider, are cowardly acts that are totally rejected.

The Mission offers condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured speedy recovery.

The Mission believes that the best response to counter terrorism and violence is for the Libyans to forge ahead with the search for a political solution to end the conflict and restore stability and unity to the country and the State institutions.
