The need for a ceasefire in support of Political dialogue agreed to at preparatory security meeting

01 March 2015 - A delegation from the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) met with the head of Joint operations room, heads of regional operations rooms and the field Commanders of Operations Libya Dawn and Sunrise in the city of Zuwara on Thursday 26 February 2015 to discuss ways to move forward on ceasefire proposals in support of the UN-facilitated political dialogue.

The participants agreed on the principle of a ceasefire and underlined the need to end the bloodshed in Libya and engage in dialogue.

The participants stressed that a peaceful solution through dialogue is the only way out of the crisis.

The talks at Zuwara came in the framework of preparatory security discussions, a parallel process that supports the main political dialogue track.
