Libyan Political Leaders and Activists to Meet Next Week in Algeria in Support of Political Dialogue

03 March 2015 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announces that a meeting of representatives of Libyan political leaders and activists will convene early next week in Algeria as part of on-going discussions taking place within the framework of the Libyan dialogue process.

Later next week, UNSMIL will convene in Brussels a second meeting of representatives of a number of municipalities from across Libya to continue working on the confidence building measures agreed on in the earlier sessions.

The Mission will also be convening a separate meeting bringing together tribal leaders and other social forces.

The Mission continues to reach out to leaders of armed groups to work on reaching a ceasefire, and urges all groups to constructively engage with its efforts in this regard.
