Libyan Dialogue Participants in Morocco Join for Iftar

Skhirat, Morocco, 27 June 2015 - Libyan Dialogue participants sat down for an iftar on Saturday 27 June 2015 during the current political dialogue round in Skhirat, Morocco.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission for Libya (UNSMIL), Bernardino Leon, welcomed the participants as well as the ambassadors and envoys to Libya.

He urged the Libyans to quickly expedite the dialogue to reach an agreement to end the conflict in their country.
“We have this week. Let us try to make it possible this week. Let us not wait for more time. What is possible now will be final solution, will be a solution that it will seem difficult in the short perspective but I am sure it will be the right one,” Mr. Leon said.

He added: “Let us be flexible. Let us be constructive in these coming three, four, five days and I am sure we will be able to make it.”

The Special Representative also encouraged the Libyans to use the Ramadan occasion to “do everything possible to create the best environment for the agreement, to send positive messages toward peace and reconciliation,” particularly through the release of those who lost their freedom in the conflict.
Mr. Leon thanked the Kingdom of Morocco for hosting the dialogue.
