UN Urges Libyans to Make Maximum Efforts to End the Violence in Wershefanah Area
Tripoli, 28 January 2014 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is following with great concern the deteriorating security situation and violent clashes that have taken place in Wershfanah and neighbouring areas, which have caused many casualties. The Mission calls upon all parties to exert every effort to reach a prompt end to violence and restore security and stability in the area.

Press Statement from the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya,on the Situation in the South
Tripoli, 26 January 2014 – The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya, Mr. Georg Charpentier, has expressed his concern about the effects of the clashes in the South which have led to the displacement of hundreds of families mainly within the Sabha area. Displaced families have been hosted by local communities which has added additional burden to households and medical services in the region.

United Nations Calls for End to Violence in Sabha, Supports Investigation and Mediation Efforts
Tripoli, 18 January 2014 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) expresses deep concern about the continuing violence in the city of Sabha which has resulted in the loss of life and property. The Mission calls for the immediate end to the armed clashes and supports efforts to restore calm, stop the bloodshed and ensure security in the city and other areas of southern Libya.
