Tripoli, 31 October 2013 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) today hosted a consultative meeting of representatives of Libyan political forces during which issues related to the democratic process and the difficulties surrounding it were discussed.

The UN Support Mission in Libya congratulates the Libyan people on Liberation Day. UNSMIL reiterates its commitment to continue supporting Libya's democratic transition efforts and meeting the aspirations of the Libyan people for sustainable peace, security, stability and prosperity.
Statement Attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on Libya
New York, 10 October 2013, The Secretary-General is relieved by the release of Prime Minister Ali Zeidan of Libya and emphasises his continued support to the Government of Libya. He reiterates his condemnation of the Prime Minister's abduction. 

Libya is facing a deteriorating security situation and increasing acts of violence. The Secretary-General calls on all Libyan parties and the Libyan people to form consensus around national priorities and work towards building a strong, stable country, respectful of the rule of law and the protection of human rights.
