Martin Kobler Congratulates Libya Constitution Drafting Assembly Members on Building Consensus on a Constitution Draft, Praises their Extraordinary Efforts

The members of the Libyan Constitution-Drafting Assembly (CDA) concluded today, Wednesday 06 April 2016, a three-week Consultative Retreat aimed at building consensuses on Libya's draft constitution. The Consultative Meeting was hosted by the Sultanate of Oman in Salalah and facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, praises the tireless efforts and the extraordinary work of the Libyan CDA members. "The Mission has had the honour of facilitating the work of this Consultative Retreat, I value with pride the tremendous efforts made by the CDA members to finalise a constitution for Libya," Martin Kobler said. "I hope that Salalah Consensuses constitutes a fundamental pillar of a draft constitution around which all Libyans can gather," he added.

The Special Representatives extends his gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for hosting this Consultative Meeting in Salalah. "I would like to extend my immeasurable thanks to the Sultanate of Oman, Leadership, the Government and people for their support and generous hospitality. We appreciate their noble desire to consolidate harmony and agreement, and their tremendous effort to overcome the difficulties and provide all means of success, which reflected positively on the course of consultations and consensus," Martin Kobler said.
