Jordanian Expertise in Family and Children Protection Extended to Libyan Staff of Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice and Civil Society Organizations


In September, UNSMIL’s Women Empowerment Section, in collaboration with UNICEF, and the Government Institutions in Jordan organized a four-day Study Tour to Jordan for 17 Libyan participants to learn from the different institutions charged of protecting women, children and the family as a whole from any form of violence.

The Libyan women and men from the police force at the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice as well as social workers at the Ministry of Interior and Civil Society Organizations visited the Criminal Court, Amman Juvenile Court, Ministry of Justice, Family Protection Unit, Juvenile Police Department, National Council for Family Affairs, National Centre for Forensic Medicine/Ministry of Health, and the Jordan National Commission for Women.

The Libyan participants expressed their appreciation to the Jordanian authorities for the experience they have gained from the Study Tour and committed to use this knowledge in their institutions in order to improve the protection mechanism for women and children from all forms of violence.
