Libyan Media Owner, Managers Discuss on 2nd Day of Meeting in Madrid Challenges Facing their Outlets

27 October 2015 - Libyan media owners and managers, in Madrid for a four-day meeting under the theme “When Media Makes Peace: the Roles and Responsibilities of Media During Conflict”, highlighted on the second day of discussions on Tuesday 27 October 2015 the challenges their outlets are facing, from security threats, funding issues and human resources management as well as technical support and lack of national legislations regulating the profession. They also worked on developing a draft of a future Code of Conduct for managers of these institutions.

The meeting is part of UNESCO’s continuing efforts to reinforce the capacity of Libyan media to contribute to reconciliation and peace in the country as well as to promote freedom of expression and independent media.
