UNESCO organizes round-table to enhance Professional, Ethical Standards in Libyan Media Management
Madrid, Spain – 26 October 2015 – A four-day roundtable discussion on the challenges facing Libyan media outlets opened today in Casa Arabe Cultural Centre in Madrid. Attended by twenty managers and owners of Libyan media outlets broadcasting from inside the country as well as the region, discussions will focus on the practical challenges they confront daily in their work, as well as on strategies to develop policies and practices consistent with international best practice, thus reinforcing their contribution to reconciliation and peace in the country.

UN Celebrates Awards, Graduation Ceremony for Libyans on Humanitarian Mine Action,Emergency Response
Tunis, Tunisia - 23 Ocotber 2015 - The United Nations Mine Actions Service (UNMAS) and Arms and Ammunition Advisory Section (AAAS) of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) have celebrated an Awards and Graduation Ceremony for the nine successful Libyan participants, who completed the three week-long Capacity Enhancement Training on Mine Risk Education (MRE) on 23 October 2015. Over 30 people attended the ceremony, including embassy officials and Humanitarian Mine Action partners in Libya, UNMAS is very grateful for their support.

Senior Officials Meeting in London Pledges to Support a new Libyan Government
London, 19 October 2015 - Representatives of 40 countries, UN Agencies, and international bodies, as well as a number of independent Libyan experts, met in London on 19 October at a meeting co-hosted by the UK and UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to agree the most effective way to support a new Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA).

After consultations with all the Libyans participating in this national dialogue, I come here to tell you that despite that we have been waiting for the GNC to make a decision today, and unfortunately this decision has not been the one we were expecting in terms of proposing names for the national unity government. But we have decided to go on and we will continue working on the formation of this unity government, and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to propose this government.
