In preparation for the International Youth Day celebrations in Libya. UNFPA facilitated a debate session on 02 August 2016, in Tunisia, between number of Libyan Youth groups’ representatives and the UN Special Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi. Alhendawi listened to the participants’ vision for Libya’s future and explained the important role of Libyan youth’s engagement in the political process and in seeking a solution of the country’s crisis. He also advocated for the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution on Youth 2250.

“UNFPA is supporting young men and men of Libya to be inspired by the UNSCR 2250, and help them in reflecting its terms in the Libyan context. Libyan youth are encouraged to come up with suggestions on the way forward”, said Dr George M. Georgi, UNFPA Libya Country Director.

UNFPA also trained number of Libya young-facilitators who conducted learning workshop for 500 young men and women about the importance of UNSCR 2250 for youth empowerment.
