Tunis, Tunisia - On 19 August, The United Nations Mine Actions Service (UNMAS) concluded its second Non-Technical Survey (NTS) course, which successfully trained and equipped an additional 10 Libyan nationals who are working in the field of mine action in Benghazi and surrounding areas.

Stabilization Facility for Libya Approves Rehabilitation Packages for Benghazi, Obari and Kikla
The UNDP Stabilization Facility for Libya Project Board met this morning in Tunis under the leadership of HE Dr. Taher Al-Jehaimi, Minister of Planning, and Mr. Ali Al-Za’tari, the Deputy SRSG and UNDP Resident Representative. The Board was attended by the Ambassadors or representatives of Canada, the EU, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. This was the third meeting of the Board, following the second one in late May at which the first three locations for interventions from the Facility were approved: Benghazi, Obari and Kikla.

On International Youth Day, Young Men and Women of Libya Start their Journey of Implementing UNSCR 2250

Today, 12 of August 2016, the world celebrates the International Youth. In Libya, around 30 Civil Society Organizations and Youth Groups, jointly with Libyan Women NGO and Youth Empowerment Forum with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Libya, will commemorate this day by conducting a set of activities in 11 municipalities, Al Chatii, Al Jofra, Al Kofra, Al Zawia, Al Zentan, Benghazi, Derna, Musrata, Sabha and Tobrokand Tripoli.

The European Union and UNICEF together for the Youth of Libya
Tunis, 09 August 2016 – The Head of Delegation of the European Union to Libya, Her Excellency Ambassador Nataliya Apostolova and UNICEF Special Representative to Libya, Dr. Ghassan Khalil, signs a Partnership Declaration to contribute to resilience and social inclusion of Libyan adolescents and youth. The Partnership will focus on expanding the active role of youth and adolescents in society.

Towards a Professional Media in Libya
Libyan media representatives discuss guidelines to curb hate speech

Tunis, Tunisia – 25 July 2016 – Building on the recommendations of the recent Madrid III meeting in June, Libyan media managers and journalists from across the country and the region are gathering for three days in the Tunisian capital to establish guidelines concerning hate speech.  Once elaborated, the guidelines will be widely distributed to allow media outlets to introduce common standards, encourage professional conduct and avoid incitement.
