Martin Kobler Welcomes the Signing of the Agreement between Misrata and Tawergha
The Special Representatives of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, welcomes the reconciliation agreement signed yesterday, 31 August 2016, between Misrata and Tawergha in Tunis under the auspices of UNSMIL. The agreement aims at ensuring the safe return of over 40,000 displaced from Tawergha scattered across Libya. It also states that the victims of the 2011’s conflict involving Misrata and Tawergha will receive compensation and perpetrators will be brought to justice as well as reconstructing the affected areas.

Stabilization Facility for Libya Approves Rehabilitation Packages for Benghazi, Obari and Kikla
The UNDP Stabilization Facility for Libya Project Board met this morning in Tunis under the leadership of HE Dr. Taher Al-Jehaimi, Minister of Planning, and Mr. Ali Al-Za’tari, the Deputy SRSG and UNDP Resident Representative. The Board was attended by the Ambassadors or representatives of Canada, the EU, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. This was the third meeting of the Board, following the second one in late May at which the first three locations for interventions from the Facility were approved: Benghazi, Obari and Kikla.

On International Youth Day, Young Men and Women of Libya Start their Journey of Implementing UNSCR 2250

Today, 12 of August 2016, the world celebrates the International Youth. In Libya, around 30 Civil Society Organizations and Youth Groups, jointly with Libyan Women NGO and Youth Empowerment Forum with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Libya, will commemorate this day by conducting a set of activities in 11 municipalities, Al Chatii, Al Jofra, Al Kofra, Al Zawia, Al Zentan, Benghazi, Derna, Musrata, Sabha and Tobrokand Tripoli.
