MESSAGE OF THE SRSG VOLKER PERTHES ON THE OCCASION OF EID EL-FITR

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Sudan and Head of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Mr. Volker Perthes, extends his best wishes to all the Sudanese people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

In these difficult circumstances, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Sudan stands in solidarity with all Sudanese people and wishes them strength to persevere in the face of the current challenges. He hopes that this country and its great people will overcome this crisis and move towards a better future of peace, stability, and prosperity.

Mr. Perthes echoes the UN Secretary-General’s appeal to all parties to implement Eid ceasefire to provide the necessary conditions for a safe passage to all civilians trapped in conflict zones to access crucial assistance and receive medical care.
