On 12 January 2026, Kaha Imnadze, SRSG for Central Asia and Head of the UNRCCA, met with H.E. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in the field of preventive diplomacy and on implementing relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions adopted in 2025 at the initiative of Turkmenistan. The parties also reviewed UNRCCA’s work over the past year, acknowledged its achievements and challenges, and discussed priorities and planned activities for 2026, including programmatic and project-based initiatives involving all five Central Asian states.
Recognizing Turkmenistan’s constructive engagement in regional multilateral processes, SRSG Kaha Imnadze emphasized UNRCCA’s readiness to assist Central Asian countries in strengthening regional cooperation, maintaining peace, and advancing preventive diplomacy.
