TRIPOLI— Following recent misinformation regarding the work of the United Nations in Libya, UNSMIL notes with concern the circulation of false claims that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is relocating to the UNSMIL compound.

These claims are unfounded. Moreover, as previously stated, allegations that UNSMIL or UNHCR are implementing programmes to resettle refugees or migrants to Libya are also false.

The continued spread of misinformation and disinformation risks fueling tensions and distracting from constructive dialogue based on facts. The Mission reiterates the importance of relying on accurate information and calls on all parties to refrain from incitement and respect the inviolability of United Nations personnel, premises, property and assets in accordance with international law.

The United Nations remains committed to supporting Libya and the Libyan people, in accordance with its mandates and with full respect for Libya's sovereignty.
