THE SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE SECRETARY-GENERAL FOR LIBYA MARTIN KOBLER MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF EID AL-FITR
Upon the arrival of a new crescent moon announcing Eid al-Fitr, I send my warmest greetings and wishes for a blessed and peaceful holiday to the Libyan people and all Muslims around the world.
After a month of fasting and spiritual reflection and renewal, Eid al-fitr ushers with it a recommitment to the values of gratitude, compassion, tolerance and goodwill. These values that are at core of Islam and the basis for peace – peace, which Libyans seek and, I am confident, will soon attain.
On my last Eid message as the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, I reiterate the UN’s commitment and continued support to the people of Libya in their pursuit to live in peace, dignity and prosperity. Eid Mubarak – Kul A’am wa intum bi-kheir.
