5 July 2016 – Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Martin Kobler extends his heartfelt congratulations to the Libyan people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a time of celebration and overcoming differences.

“I wish all Libyans Eid Mubarak, as they gather to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. As the holy month of Ramadan comes to a close, I wish all Libyans a future of hope, harmony and happiness” Martin Kobler said. “Today offers us an opportunity to remember those in need and the universal ideals of humanity, compassion and justice. Together, may we work to bring peace, security and prosperity to Libya. It is a day to rejoice, a day of peace, a day to celebrate together in unity!”.

As Libya comes together to mark Eid al-Fitr, the Special Representative reiterates the sustained commitment of the UN to support Libyans in building a peaceful, democratic and prosperous country.
