Kikla, 20 December 2017 – The Stabilization Facility for Libya (SFL) has delivered school furniture and supplies to the Municipality of Kikla. Five different schools in the city, Martyrs, Khalifa Ahmed, Swadna, Central Girls and Central Boys, will receive this equipment.

The Facility, led by the Government of National Accord (GNA) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to help local authorities to improve services. The equipment is part of the list of assets identified by the municipality as priorities to achieve local development.

During the handover, which took place at a municipal warehouse in Kikla, the Mayor of Kikla, Mr. Abdul Aziz Meftah, stated: 

"With this equipment, we will be able to provide a better learning environment for students in Kikla. We are grateful to SFL and the Government of National Accord for supporting us in our way to a more stable and prosperous city."

More than 1,600 students are enrolled in these schools and will benefit from the supplies.

"Good learning conditions will motivate people from Kikla who are currently displaced in other cities to return to their original city, since their children can have a good education and that will ensure a better future for them,” explained Mr. Mostapha Abou Draa, a representative of the education department at Kikla Municipality.
The delivered equipment includes student desks, chairs, and whiteboards, among other items.

Since 2016, through SFL, the Government has delivered to Kikla two ambulances, one fire engine, several medical equipment and has rehabilitated the main hospital, the university and the sport center of the city.
