WHO delivers essential medical supplies to Beninah hospital

26 February 2018, Libya – In light of the existing shortage of essential medical supplies in Beninah, the World Health Organization delivered one NCDC kit and five Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHK) to the Beninha Hospital, funded by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

The medical kits provide essential medicines and medical devices for the management of hypertension and cardiac conditions, diabetes and endocrine conditions, chronic respiratory diseases, as well as mental health and neurological conditions. They are sufficient to meet the needs of 5000 people for a period of three months.

“WHO and its partners are exerting all efforts to prevent the collapse of the Libyan health system, but thousands of people remain in dire need of critical health services,” said Dr Jaffar Hussain, WHO Representative to Libya.
