  • 24 May 2018 - Tripoli, 24 May 2018 - The humanitarian community in Libya is perturbed by the continued lack of humanitarian access and subsequent assistance into Derna despite repeated requests. Humanitarian actors have not been allowed to deliver life-saving assistance to Derna such as supplies to support medical facilities and other basic services as well as to provide food and non-food items to those in need.
  • 22 May 2018 - GENEVA/TUNIS (22 May 2018) – Violence in Libya continues to have a devastating impact on health care in the country, with hospitals and other medical facilities bombed, shelled and looted; medical personnel targeted, attacked and even taken hostage or arbitrarily detained; and patients at times denied prompt life-saving care or attacked while getting treatment, according to a paper published today by the UN Human Rights Office and the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). 
  • 07 May 2018 - As part of the project “Towards National Reconciliation in Libya”, members of the reconciliation committees and experts from the Local Council of Awal and the city of Ghadames attended a three-day training in Tunis on 3-5 May 2018. 
  • 02 May 2018 - New York, 2 May 2018 - The Secretary-General condemns the terrorist attack on the High National Election Commission (HNEC) headquarters in Tripoli today.  He extends his condolences to the families of the victims and sincere sympathy to the wounded.

The League of Arab States (LAS), the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) held their fourth meeting at the headquarters of the League of Arab States on 30 April 2018 to discuss the situation in Libya and further coordinate their efforts in support of the political process and Libya’s democratic transition.  
     
  • 27 Apr 2018 - Friday, 27 April 2018  - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes all reconciliation initiatives between communities in Libya, aiming at restoring safety and stability to the daily lives of Libyans. In this context the mission welcomes recent reconciliation efforts and the agreement signed between the cities of Misrata and Zintan and hopes it paves the way for peaceful relations and positive collaboration between the two communities.  
  • 27 Apr 2018 - Libya – IOM, UNICEF and UNHCR are enhancing migrant and refugee child protection measures in Libya. In March 2018, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix identified some 29,370 unaccompanied migrant children in Libya – although the real figure could be much higher.
  • 25 Apr 2018 - Tripoli - The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IOM, the UN Migration Agency co-chaired the third Migration Working Group meeting in Tripoli.

    24 Apr 2018 - Tuesday 24 April 2018 – Explosive remnants of war lead to devastating humanitarian consequences, causing injury, death and massive displacement of civilians across Libya. With limited resources, Libyan Security Institutions such as the National Safety Authority and Military Engineers carry out the critical and risky clearance work to reduce the impact of explosive remnants of war on civilians’ lives.
