    Within the limit of the delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible of the following tasks:
    • Provide administrative assistance of Chief of section regarding the ongoing projects in the mission,
    • Establish plans for carrying out projects as requested, considering manpower, supplies and time required;
    • Distribute the tasks to different staff and contractors involved;
    • Contacting the different offices for supplies and services required and coordinating the resources;
    • Monitoring the ongoing process, and working out the difficulties in the process;
    • Provide logistics support to the mission HQ, Chief of staff, military and civilian on behalf of general services;
    • Review incoming request and prioritize the tasks to be accomplished together with the supervisor;
    • Check the areas concerned and advise the relevant staff to provide the required maintenance;
    • Prepare SOR for the various requirement in the section related to construction, maintenance services and for good requirement in the section;
    • Coordinate with Procurement unit to finalize the contract;
    • Conduct inspection of the good and service ensuring the requirement are met;
    • Review and supervise the work provided by the contractor in accordance with the need of the mission;
    • Review areas that need more attention other than the routine daily work for cleaners and advising their foreman on schedules in the cases of meetings, conference functions, moving offices or conducting maintenance work in some offices;
    • Signing the correct invoices that services are satisfactorily rendered prior to certifying them by the chief of section;
    • Provide logistics support in case of emergency and evacuation;
    • Keep record of the engineering inventory;
    • Perform diagnostics and preventive maintenance, resolve basic engineering problems and inspect quality of work and work performance;
    • Inspect and report on construction project work and maintenance work carried out either by contractors or tradesmen and staff under supervision and ensure proper utilization of available resources;
    • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for infrastructure projects and maintenance programmes;
    • Assist in preparation of bills of quantities and costing for infrastructure projects. Resolve problems; inspect quality of work and work performance;
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or the Chief of Section/Unit.

    Within limits of delegated authority, the incumbent may be responsible for the following duties:

    1. Makes deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the office and institutions, e.g. Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc.
    2. Makes minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested. Collect goods from the customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. May make or collect payment for goods.
    3. Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and for the transport of general cargo goods.
    4. Collects and delivers mail, documents, and other items.
    5. Meets official personnel at the airport.
    6. Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
    7. Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; perform minor repairs and arrangements for other repairs and ensures that vehicle is kept clean.
    8. Performs VIP and Standby Driver duties.
    9. Assists the workshop in the preparation of trucks for field trips, such as changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and general check-over.
    10. Logs fuel consumption, maintenance etc.
    11. Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of an accident.
    12. Acts as a team lead; assigns tasks/ shifts to junior drivers.
    13. Performs other duties as assigned.

    The Gender Advisory Unit (GAU) of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, provides assistance to Libyan women and the Government of National Accord (GNA) by way of promoting the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security.  The work of the Unit is in support of the mission’s mandate, which requests UNSMIL “to take fully into account a gender perspective throughout its mandate and to assist the GNA in ensuring the full and effective participation of women in the democratic transition, reconciliation efforts, the security sector and in national institutions in line with resolution 1325 (2000).”  (SCR 2376 of 14 Sept 17).
     
    The Gender Advisory Unit is seeking to recruit a National Officer to assist the unit in delivering its mandate.
     
    Within delegated authority, the Assistant Gender Affairs Officer at this level will be responsible for the following tasks:
     
    • Assists the Gender Advisory Team with implementing a mission-wide action plan, as appropriate;
    • Assists in the delivery of appropriate training for different levels of personnel where required;
    • Assists with the preparation and submission of timely reporting and documentation on gender, including quarterly reports;
    • Supports and documents the collection of good practices and lessons learned on gender equality;
    • Assists the Gender Advisory Team with mainstreaming gender across the Mission;
    • Assists in the development of talking points, speeches and other written materials on gender;
    • Performs other duties, as assigned.
