Statement by the Co-Chairs of the Security Working Group of the Berlin process

TRIPOLI- The co-chairs of the Berlin Process Security Working Group (SWG) commend the efforts towards an agreement between the Government of National Unity and the Deterrence Apparatus for Combating Organized Crime and Terrorism and urge a peaceful resolution of outstanding issues as soon as possible and a time-bound and tangible implementation of any such agreement. They also urged the parties to exercise calm and restraint to prevent any incidents of violence and harm to the civilian population.

This statement follows a meeting on 4th September of the SWG co-chair ambassadors (UNSMIL, the African Union, France, Italy, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom) in the presence of the Chief of General Staff and head of the Truce Committee, the Advisor of the President of the Presidential Council, and a representative of the Security and Military Arrangements Committee
