The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Libya, Ghassan Salame, met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States(LAS), today in Cairo to discuss the latest developments in Libya.
Both, SRSG and LAS Secretary-General, stressed the need for regional cooperation in support of the political process in Libya. From his part, Aboul Gheit expressed the League’s great interest in achieving stability in Libya as a member state of the League of Arab States and its support for the UN Action Plan and the UN-facilitated political process in order to achieve a historic settlement among the various Libyan parties.
