23 Jun 2020 - TRIPOLI, 23 June 2020 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the establishment of an international Fact-Finding Mission to Libya (FFML), pursuant to a resolution adopted yesterday by the Human Rights Council.
12 Jun 2020 - The Secretary-General is deeply shocked by the discovery of multiple mass graves in recent days, the majority of them in Tarhouna. The Secretary-General calls for a thorough and transparent investigation, and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. In particular, he calls on the authorities to secure the mass graves, identify the victims, establish causes of death and return the bodies to next of kin.
The United Nations has offered support in this regard.
08 Jun 2020 - TRIPOLI, 08 June 2020 – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the opening of the Sharara and El Feel oil fields this weekend. The oil blockade has needlessly cost the Libyan people over $5 billion due to lost oil sales as well as millions of dollars of indirect losses due to the shutdown of domestic refineries and damage caused by the oil infrastructure remaining idle. The blockade should be fully lifted across the country.
01 Jun 2020 - Tripoli, 01 June 2020 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the acceptance by the Government of National Accord and the “Libyan National Army” of the resumption of talks on the ceasefire and associated security arrangements based on the draft agreement submitted by UNSMIL to the parties during the Joint Military Commission talks (5 + 5) (JMC) on 23 February 2020.
