23 Nov 2017 - Tripoli – On 21 November, as part of the Coordination Framework for International Technical Cooperation with the State of Libya, the Libyan authorities, with the support of the UN Migration Agency (IOM) launched the Migration Working Group, chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and co-chaired by IOM.
The United Nations in Libya, dismayed and sickened by the recent video footage of African migrants being sold as “goods” in the country, is actively pursuing the matter with the Libyan authorities to set up transparent monitoring mechanism that safeguard migrants against horrific human rights abuses.
20 Nov 2017 - I am horrified at news reports and video footage showing African migrants in Libya reportedly being sold as slaves. I abhor these appalling acts and call upon all competent authorities to investigate these activities without delay and bring the perpetrators to justice. I have asked the relevant United Nations actors to actively pursue this matter.
20 Nov 2017 - 20 November 2017 - WHO has received reports from the Sabha medical center on recent kidnapping of one of its doctors.
WHO strongly condemns kidnapping of health workers as well as any other attacks on medical personnel and health facilities. We consider immoral and illegal any act of verbal or physical violence, obstruction or threat of violence that interferes with the availability, access and delivery of health care.

12 Nov 2017 - Tripoli, Libya - On Saturday 11 November 2017, 25 refugees departed from Mitiga airport in Tripoli, Libya bound for Niamey, Niger.
The group is heading to Niger as part of a humanitarian evacuation initiative between UNHCR, the Libyan government and the government of Niger. The Government of Niger has generously agreed to host the group until their resettlement claims are processed. Among these 25 refugees, there were 15 women, six men and four children.
11 Nov 2017 - 10 November 2017, Tripoli - With the aim of enhancing civil society organizations (CSOs)’ capacities to engage in reconciliation efforts in Libya, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP, organized a two-day training from 07 to 08 November in Tripoli, to equip CSOs with practical tools of conflict resolution, reconciliation and transitional justice.
