  • 15 Aug 2019 - Since the beginning of the offensive on Tripoli in early April, more than 37 attacks have been registered against health workers and facilities, including hospitals, field hospitals and civilian and military ambulances. These deplorable attacks which impacted at least 19 ambulances and 19 hospitals, have resulted in 11 deaths, and injuries to more than 33 persons, although the actual number may be significantly higher.  
  • 14 Aug 2019 - Tripoli, 14 August 2019 - Following the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) call upon the parties on 8 August to express their commitment to a humanitarian truce on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the mission welcomes the positive response by the parties and the palpable reduction of violence in the Tripoli area.  
  • 11 Aug 2019 - The Members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack on a UN Convoy on 10 August 2019 in Benghazi. Those behind the attack should be identified and held accountable.   The Members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, and wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.  
  • 10 Aug 2019 - 10 August 2019 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the agreement by concerned parties to the principle of humanitarian truce on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and calls for its terms to be respected to the letter to uphold the sanctity of Eid and ensure the interest of Libyans.

  • 10 Aug 2019 - Following its call for a humanitarian truce on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) received a response from the Government of National Accord declaring its agreement to the truce, but has not received any response from the leadership of the Libyan National Army until now. The Mission had hoped for a mutually concurrent agreement to the truce, but one of the parties has refused to take this course for their own reasons.
  • UNSMIL Statement on the Continued Enforced Disappearance of House of Representative Member Siham Sergawa
    07 Aug 2019 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is deeply concerned at the continued enforced disappearance of House of Representatives lawmaker Siham Sergawa.  Ms. Sergawa was brutally abducted from her home in Benghazi on 17 July by a unit of gunmen who injured her relative and husband during the abduction.   
  • 05 Aug 2019 - 05 August 2019 - The Members of the Security Council reaffirmed the messages set out in the Council’s press statement of 5 July 2019, in particular the call on all parties to commit to a ceasefire and rapidly to return to a UN-mediated political process.  
  • 05 Aug 2019 - Tripoli, 05 August 2019 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is extremely concerned by reports on the continuation of acts of violence in Murzuq, including of a number of airstrikes last night which resulted in many deaths and injuries amongst civilians. UNSMIL also expresses grave concern over the ongoing communal violence in Murzuq, which has in the past few days led to the deaths of around twenty people and injuries of many others.  
  • 04 Aug 2019 - Tripoli, 4 August 2019 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya Ghassan Salame condemns the repeated indiscriminate shelling targeting Mitiga airport, the only indispensable functioning airport   available for use by millions of civilians and for the delivery of humanitarian assistance   in the greater Tripoli area.
