08 May 2019 - The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), with the generous support of the Government of Canada, successfully concluded a three-week training course on Device Scene Incident Management (DSIM) for Libyan Forensic Police Officers from the Libyan Ministry of Interior’s Criminal Investigation Agency. The contribution from Canada also helped UNMAS equip the four trained teams with four sets of specialized equipment to allow them to safely conduct DSIM upon their return to Libya. -

04 May 2019 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Sebha, which was claimed by the Islamic State in the Levant (Dae’esh) and resulted in a number of Libyan casualties. Perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of terrorist activities must be brought to justice. -

17 Apr 2019 - Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Ghassan Salame condemns in the strongest terms the overnight heavy rocket shelling on the high-density residential neighbourhood of Abu Slim in Tripoli which resulted in scores of civilian deaths and injuries. According to initial medical sources, civilian casualties include injured women and children and one family that lost a mother, daughter, and grand-daughter.

He reiterated, during a media stakeout after briefing the Security Council in closed consultations about his last visit to Libya, that there is no military solution for the ongoing conflict there.
