  • 29 Nov 2018 - UNSMIL continues to receive reports of armed groups carrying out extra-judicial killings in Tripoli, a phenomenon that has been on the rise over the past few weeks. The Mission affirms that allegations of offences and personal disputes should be judged in a court of law, not by gunmen on the streets.  
  • 29 Nov 2018 - Tunis, 26–28 November 2018 - IOM in Libya, in collaboration with UNFPA in Libya, and with the support of the Government of Finland, concluded yesterday a training workshop for the second batch of health care professionals. The three-day training workshop aims to increase the capacity of health care professionals on providing comprehensive clinical management to survivors of sexual violence including rape.
  • 24 Nov 2018 - Tripoli, 24 November 2018 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) condemns the deadly terrorist attack on Tezirbu, an oasis in the southeast of Libya, 250 kilometers northwest of Kufra.   The Friday attack on the Tezirbu police station, which local authorities say was carried out by ISIL, resulted in at least eight civilians killed, nine injured, three abducted and nine still missing and believed to be kidnapped.

  • 06 Nov 2018 - Tripoli, 6 November 2018 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) in Libya, Ghassan Salamé, received today the final report on the consultative phase of the Libyan National Conference process. The report, prepared by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), presents the findings of the nationwide public consultations which took place from April to July 2018.
  • 05 Nov 2018 - The United Nations condemns the attack against Jalaa Hospital for Women and Childbirth in Tripoli, by militias. The attackers shot one doctor and threatened the safety and security of the medical staff at the hospital, resulting in a three-day halt of all non-emergency medical services. 
  • 02 Nov 2018 - In just over a decade, more than a thousand journalists have been killed while carrying out their indispensable work. Nine out of ten cases are unresolved, with no one held accountable. Female journalists are often at greater risk of being targeted not only for their reporting but also because of their gender, including through the threat of sexual violence. This year alone, at least 88 journalists have been killed.

  • 29 Oct 2018 - Tripoli, 29 October 2018 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) strongly condemns the deadly attack on al-Foqha, a town in central Libya, in what local authorities say was a brutal act of revenge conducted by ISIL. The Sunday attack resulted in four civilians killed – two of whom were executed in public, and at least nine abducted.
