  • 16 Feb 2018 - Tripoli – This week, IOM, the UN Migration Agency and the Libyan Ministry of Labour took the first steps towards developing a labour migration strategy.Over three days beginning on Sunday (11/02), the Libyan Minister of Labour and Capacity Building hosted a workshop on developing Libya’s labour market and fostering youth empowerment throughout the country. IOM supported and participated in the workshop.

  • 15 Feb 2018 - Since November, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has evacuated over 1,000 highly vulnerable refugees out of Libya and is looking for durable solutions for them in third countries. On Tuesday, a flight departed from Tripoli bound for, Niamey, Niger, carrying 128 refugees and on Wednesday, a second plane took 150 refugees from Tripoli to Rome, Italy, bringing to 1,084 the total number of refugees evacuated since the beginning of UNHCR’s operation, three months ago.

  • 02 Feb 2018 - 2 February 2018 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) deeply regrets that families from the Tawergha community were prevented from returning to their homes by some extremist elements.  Furthermore, the Mission deplores the threats that were made against the Tawergha community while attempting to return safely to their homes and strongly denounces attempts at financial extortion in exchange for their return.

  • 30 Jan 2018 - Tunis, 30 January 2018 - After seven years of conflict, the humanitarian situation in Libya continues to deteriorate with 378,000 children in need of life-saving assistance and protection throughout 2018.  “2018 is a pivotal year for Libya, especially for children,” said Abdel-Rahman Ghandour, UNICEF Special Representative to Libya.
  • 26 Jan 2018 - World Health Organization (WHO) strongly condemns the double car bombing in Al-Salmani district in Benghazi on 23 January 2018 which killed and injured scores of civilians. WHO extends its condolences to the victims' families and renews its humanitarian commitment to support Libyans throughout the country. WHO staff and focal points arrived at the venue shortly after the deadly attack and started to provide support to Health authorities in Benghazi involved in treating the injured.
