16 Aug 2018 - Tripoli, 16 August 2018 - The verdict announced on 15 August 2018 by the Criminal Circuit of the Court of Appeal of Tripoli is a cause of concern, given the 45 death sentences pronounced. UNSMIL recognizes efforts by the Libyan judiciary to hold people to account for crimes committed during the 2011 Revolution, especially amid armed conflict and political polarization. However, the United Nations opposes the imposition of the death penalty as a matter of principle.
06 Aug 2018 - Tripoli, 6 August 2018 – As part of its efforts to strengthen the participation of all Libyans in the process of reconciliation, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) today launched the “Al-Solh Khair” (“Reconciliation is Good”) media campaign.
27 Jul 2018 - A thematic meeting on real estate, land and property rights in Libya was organized in Tunis by UNSMIL and UNDP on 9-10 July as part of the project “Towards National Reconciliation in Libya”.

The members of the Security Council welcomed the announcement on [11 July 2018] that Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) is resuming its work on behalf of all Libyans and stressed that its operations should continue unimpeded for the benefit of all Libyans.
18 Jul 2018 - Tunis, 11 July 2018 - A group of internally displaced persons (IDPs), activists, civil society organizations members and some representatives of those displaced from Benghazi attended a two-day consultative meeting in Tunis to discuss the future dialogue process. UNSMIL and UNDP facilitated the consultations as part of the project “Towards National Reconciliation in Libya,” which acts in support of local dialogue processes and mediation efforts throughout Libya.

11 Jul 2018 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the return to regular production and export of Libya’s oil under the control of the National Oil Corporation. This is in compliance with UN Security Council Resolutions (2259, 2278 and 2362.). UNSMIL is encouraged by the decision of the NOC to lift the force majeure, enabling the resumption of oil exports.
02 Jul 2018 - Secretary-General António Guterres announced today the appointment of Stephanie T. Williams of the United States of America as his Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs in Libya, United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
