Tripoli, 01 October 2014 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Bernardino Leon, welcomes the announcement by the House of Representatives committing itself to the political dialogue and to inclusiveness in resolving the country’s crisis.
29 Sep 2014 - Ghadames, 29 September 2014 - At the invitation of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), a group of parliamentarians from the Libyan House of Representatives met today in Ghadames for preliminary discussions on ways of overcoming the deficit of trust and confidence within parliamentary ranks, and resolving the current political stalemate in the country.

11 Sep 2014 - Tripoli, 11 September 2014 - Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Bernardino Leon, held talks with politicians and influential actors in Tripoli, Zintan and Misrata on Thursday 11 September 2014. Earlier in the week, he visited Tobruk and Al-Baida. Before leaving Tripoli, he held a press conference. Below are some of his remarks:
10 Sep 2014 - Tripoli, 10 September 2014 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Bernardino Leòn, continued his discussions with Libyan political actors on ways to end the fighting and begin a political process to draw the country out of the current crisis.
09 Sep 2014 - Albaida, 09 September 2014 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Bernardino Leòn, met with the chairman of the Constitution-Drafting Assembly (CDA), Mr. Ali Tarhouni, in the city of Albaida on Tuesday 09 September 2014.
Mr. Leon expressed appreciation for the work of the CDA in the drafting of the constitution and emphasized continued UN technical assistance to the body.
19 Aug 2014 - Tunis, 18 August 2014 - The UN Refugee Agency through its partner organizations International Medical Corps (IMC) and Taher Al Zawia Organization sent on Saturday a two trucks convoy with humanitarian aid from Tunisia into Libya, the first one since the beginning of the current crisis.
14 Aug 2014 - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Mr. Bernardino León of Spain as his Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The new Special Representative will succeed Mr. Tarek Mitri of Lebanon on 1 September 2014. The Secretary-General is grateful to Mr. Mitri for his dedication and leadership of UNSMIL.
13 Aug 2014 - Tripoli, 13 August 2014 – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) continues to make efforts with the parties to reach a ceasefire and embark on a dialogue to consolidate this ceasefire by political means.
The efforts are in line with the Mission's mandate to offer advice and assistance as well as to contribute to providing the conditions to reach political solutions. Naturally, the Mission's view is that these solutions cannot be imposed by force.
