The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Tarek Mitri, ambassadors of European Union states and the U.S. Charge d’Affaires visited Interim Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thni on Tuesday 20 May 2014. The delegation listened to a detailed presentation of the Government’s initiative to address the current crisis. During the meeting, the participants underlined the importance of using political means to address the differences instead of resorting to violence. They emphasized the respect of the United Nations and their countries for the sovereignty of Libya and keenness on its national unity, and praised any attempt to heal the rift among Libyans. The delegation viewed the proposals of the Government’s initiative and other proposals as worthy of discussion among all political forces.
