The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Libya and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, is following reports of ongoing fighting in Tripoli with grave concern.

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator Maria Riberio expresses alarm at the toll the continued fighting in southern Libya is having on ordinary people, including reduced access to humanitarian assistance and health services. 

Yusef Marda wasn’t naïve about the risks awaiting him when he set out on the long journey from his hometown of Kufra, deep in the Sahara Desert, to the nearest functioning civilian airport more than a thousand kilometres away. He was headed to Tunis, to attend a youth reconciliation workshop.
