The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) confirms the safe return of UN staff to Tripoli following an attack on a UN convoy traveling from Surmon to the capital. All staff are safe and accounted for.  

Upon the arrival of a new crescent moon announcing Eid al-Fitr, I send my warmest greetings and wishes for a blessed and peaceful holiday to the Libyan people and all Muslims around the world. 

Today we pay tribute to the women, girls, men and boys who have suffered the atrocity of sexual violence in conflict, and we reaffirm our global commitment to eliminate this scourge.
