Tripoli, 18 June 2014 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Tarek Mitri, briefed ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Libya on the recent discussions at the Security Council as well as the reasons and circumstances behind the indefinite postponement of the Libyan dialogue meeting, which was scheduled for 18 June 2014.

Mitri also briefed the diplomats on the campaign of slander and defamation waged against the United Nations in Libya and the Special Representative as well as the motives behind it. Also discussed were ways to coordinate between the United Nations and the 10 international envoys to Libya
