TRIPOLI — UNSMIL representatives attended Saturday’s Local Youth Council elections, which reflected the energy and commitment of young Libyans seeking to contribute to their country’s future through participation, dialogue and civic engagement. More than 70,000 Libyan youth voted, including 35 percent women, in 30 municipalities across the western region.
Encouraging meaningful youth engagement is essential to strengthening democratic culture, promoting inclusion and ensuring that future governance processes reflect the aspirations and priorities of all Libyans. The United Nations continues to support efforts that expand opportunities for constructive youth participation.
