  • 17 Oct 2014 - 1-"As you may know we have had two meetings already, one in Ghedames where both parties agreed to start a political process, and the recent one in Tripoli. It was the first time after weeks and even months of confrontation when the two sides could meet again in Tripoli, and this was on the occasion of a very important visit, the visit of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon.
  • 15 Oct 2014 - On 7 October, a group of gunmen stormed and vandalized the Karamanli Mosque, one of Tripoli’s most famous and beautiful mosques built by Ahmed Paschia in 1738. Ceramic tiles and marble decorations in the interior of the mosque were removed, and the floor completely ripped out. Days later, on 11 October, the historic Othman Pasha Madrassa, which serves the Sufi community of Tripoli, was damaged and looted by armed men.

  • 29 Sep 2014 - Ghadames, 29 September 2014 - At the invitation of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), a group of parliamentarians from the Libyan House of Representatives met today in Ghadames for preliminary discussions on ways of overcoming the deficit of trust and confidence within parliamentary ranks, and resolving the current political stalemate in the country.

  • 11 Sep 2014 - Tripoli, 11 September 2014 - Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Bernardino Leon, held talks with politicians and influential actors in Tripoli, Zintan and Misrata on Thursday 11 September 2014.   • 09 Sep 2014 - Albaida, 09 September 2014 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Bernardino Leòn, met with the chairman of the Constitution-Drafting Assembly (CDA), Mr. Ali Tarhouni, in the city of Albaida on Tuesday 09 September 2014. Mr. Leon expressed appreciation for the work of the CDA in the drafting of the constitution and emphasized continued UN technical assistance to the body.
  • 19 Aug 2014 - Tunis, 18 August 2014 - The UN Refugee Agency through its partner organizations International Medical Corps (IMC) and Taher Al Zawia Organization sent on Saturday a two trucks convoy with humanitarian aid from Tunisia into Libya, the first one since the beginning of the current crisis.
