Job description
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor (Engineering Technician) the incumbent will perform the following functions:
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services;
- Carry out fault diagnosis and carry out forward planning on assigned work/projects;
- Repair and Maintain security barriers;
- Repair and maintain generators:
- Ensure spares or materials lists are compiled in good time for work assigned;
- Installs and maintains the generator wiring, electric motors and machines;
- Repairs electrical faults in generators, alternators, pumps, electric motors and low voltage switchboards;
- Installs generator sets complete generating stations;
- Inspects maintains and repairs generator sets and diesel driven pumps;
- Overhauls and rebuilds generators;
- Responsible for the safe and efficient use of tools and specialized equipment;
- Plan, produce, and assemble new or changed mechanical parts for products, such as security barriers, generators and other engineering equipment;
- Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance;
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on all the security barriers, generators, Air Conditions system and General Mechanical works;
- Assess maintenance needs of generators, parts replacement requirements and make appropriate recommendations;
- Carry out routine checks on generators and air conditioning and equipment, and review performance;
- Perform other duties related to facilities support as and when required.
