1. The League of Arab States, the African Union, and the United Nations held a consultative meeting at the headquarters of the League of Arab States on 21 January 2017 to discuss the situation in Libya in the context of the Troika that was established between the three organizations.

2. The meeting was held between Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, former President Jakaya Kikwete, the AU High Representative for Libya, and Mr. Martin Kobler, the Special Representative of the Secretary General and head of the UN Support Mission in Libya.

3. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen their coordination and continue to work in a complementary manner to advance the political process in Libya and promote a Libyan-led peaceful resolution of the situation. 

4. For this purpose and to ensure a coordinated approach, they agreed to further their cooperation with all the relevant States and other regional organizations, including the Neighboring States mechanism, and welcomed the Final
 Communique adopted by the 10th Ministerial meeting of the Neighboring States Mechanism held in Cairo on 21 January 2017.

5. The parties continued to encourage key Libyan parties and stakeholders to participate in the political process and engage in constructive discussions to identify and resolve the core issues that impede the successful and comprehensive conclusion of the political process within the overall framework of the Libyan Political Agreement.

6. They underscored that the current protracted situation in Libya can only be resolved through an inclusive political dialogue, and in this context reiterated their rejection of the use or threat of use of force by the Libyan parties.
