Martin Kobler Discusses Support to Libya Political Process with Leaders of Chad, Niger and AU Representatives

Addis Ababa, Nov 8 2017 - The Special Representatives of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, met today with the President Idriss Deby of Chad, President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger and the High Level Representative of the African Union to Libya, Jakaya Kikwete.  The meetings took place in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of the meeting of the AU High-Level Committee on Libya.

“We all share the view that only through a political solution, through dialogue among all parties can Libyans overcome their differences. We agreed that there is a sense of urgency and that concrete decisions are required now to implement the Libyan Political Agreement,” Martin Kobler said after the meetings.

The leaders expressed their full readiness to support the political process within the Framework of the Troika, established in October between the UN, the League of Arab States and the Africa Union.
