Martin Kobler warns against the risk of renewed conflict: “I urge all parties to act with restraint”

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, warns against the risk of escalation leading to renewed conflict following developments in central Libya. Martin Kobler said, “I urge all parties to act with restraint and to resolve issues through peaceful dialogue.”

The Special Representative called on all parties to work on local and national reconciliation and refrain from any act or rhetoric that may inflame the situation. Martin Kobler emphasised the need for urgent renewed efforts to find solutions to political issues that will allow for the full implementation of the Libyan Political Agreement and expressed his strong support for the ongoing battle against terrorism in Libya.
