Tripoli, 24 January 2018 – At least three children are among 35 people reported killed in a twin car bombing in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Tuesday night. Around 60 people, including children, have been injured.

"UNICEF is horrified by reports that children are among the victims of yesterday’s twin car explosion in Benghazi." said UNICEF Special Representative in Libya, Abdel-Rahman Ghandour. “It is absolutely unacceptable for children to be targeted and exposed to attacks, whether through indiscriminate weapons resulting in mass casualties, or by any other means.”

UNICEF calls upon all parties in Libya to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law, to protect all civilians, including children and put an end to this kind of horror.
