Tripoli, 31 October 2013 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) today hosted a consultative meeting of representatives of Libyan political forces during which issues related to the democratic process and the difficulties surrounding it were discussed.

Discussions focused in particular on managing the transition and the necessary conditions to ensure the success of national dialog and the progress in the constitution-making effort.

The meeting was marked by openness, mutual respect and the search for common ground. Participants affirmed their willingness to continue this kind of informal consultations. They also welcomed UNSMIL's initiative to host this meeting and called upon the Mission to continue its efforts in facilitating dialogue and consensus building.
