WHO Assessment on National Cancer Registry System in Libya

WHO country office has conducted Assessment workshop for Libyan national Cancer registry between 16- 17 November in Tunis, in partnership with WHO Regional office, the International Agency for research of Cancer (IARC), and the Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development (GICR), and it has been attended by national specialists from all over Libya including Sabha, Misrata, Benghazi, Tripoli, and Subratha cities.

This Cancer registry assessment was designed to evaluate the current established cancer registries and strengthen the national level to optimize the collected data and reporting in order to obtain a worthy quality unbiased data on cancer burden of the Libyan community that will reflect the status of the local cancer situation and will help in tackling the increasing incidence. 

At the end of the workshop all the national partners, WHO, and IARC have drafted a timeframe to follow up on the progress of unifying the cancer registries process for a better outcome.
