23 Aug 2025 - TRIPOLI - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the High National Elections Commission’s (HNEC) announcement of the preliminary results for 26 municipalities in the Western region. The Mission calls on all parties to peacefully accept the outcome of the voting and to resort to judicial mechanisms in case of any objections. -

17 Aug 2025 - TRIPOLI - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) congratulates the citizens of 26 Libyan municipalities for the successful conduct of Municipal Council Elections today with a reported high preliminary turnout of 71%. According to reports, today’s elections were held in an orderly and peaceful manner. -
16 Aug 2025 - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomes the opening this morning of polling centers in 26 municipalities for the holding of Municipal Council Elections. Libyan citizens, residents of those municipalities have the opportunity to exercise their political rights and participate in the democratic process, by renewing the legitimacy of local authorities through peaceful, inclusive, and transparent elections in this second group of municipalities.

28 Jul 2025 - Tripoli – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) followed the live broadcast of the High Council of State (HCS) session on Sunday, 27 July, during which 95 members elected a new Presidency. The Mission noted that voting proceeded under normal conditions and with transparency.
