More than 700 journalists have been killed in the last decade -- one every five days -- simply for bringing news and information to the public.
28 Oct 2015 - 28 October 2015 – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has learnt of the crash of a helicopter near Zawiya west of Tripoli on 27 October 2015, reportedly killing all passengers onboard, including military officers and brigade commanders.
The Mission regrets the loss of life and calls on the parties to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from any action that would further escalate tensions.

He commends the dialogue participants on having reached a final text of a political agreement after comprehensive and broad consultations.
07 Oct 2015 - New York, 6 October 2015 - The Secretary-General reiterates the call of Member States and regional organizations who, during a high-level meeting he convened on 2 October, urged participants in the Libyan political dialogue to urgently conclude the process and sign an agreement leading to the formation of a Government of National Accord. As participants in the event stressed, the agreement is the only way to end the current crisis.
